Exterior Elevated Elements
Inspection Program
In response to a tragic balcony collapse, the City of Berkeley passed an ordinance requiring owners of R-1 and R-2 residential buildings to have weather-exposed "elevated elements" (balconies, stairways, handrails...) inspected every three years to verify they are in safe and in working order.
Inspections must be done by a licensed general contractor, architect, engineer, or structural pest control licensee.
Initial inspection certifications are required to be submitted to the City of Berkeley by January 14, 2016.

My name is Tim Caistor and I am the founder and President of Caistor Construction. I have 19 years experience as a General Contractor working on new construction of single and multi-family residences and additions and remodels of existing homes. I have been licensed by the State of California since 1996.
I have performed inspections under the new program and am familiar with its requirements.
